Kinston has earned its third All-America City Award, a national recognition reserved for communities that excel in civic engagement, cross-sector collaboration, and local problem-solving. It’s a proud moment. We deserve to celebrate. But as banners are raised and congratulations echo through City Hall, we need to ask a harder question:
Kinston has once again been recognized for its efforts to strengthen environmental sustainability and for their civic infrastructure, earning the prestigious 2025 All-America City Award for the third time in its history. The announcement came during the 76th annual awards ceremony held in Denver, Colorado, following three days of presentations from finalist communities.
Kinston City Council voted June 3 to support a proposed redesign of All American City Park, a small but prominent green space at the intersection of Blount and North Queen streets, marking a new phase in the city’s downtown revitalization efforts.
