Eight students involved in fight at Kinston High School, district says
An altercation involving eight students at Kinston High School lasted less than a minute and did not result in a lockdown, according to Lenoir County Public Schools.
Patrick Holmes, the district’s public information officer, said a group of male students was arguing in a hallway as students transitioned from lunch to third period. The argument escalated into a fight.
The school resource officer, teachers and administrators restored order immediately, Holmes said. The resource officer called for additional officers to assist, and emergency medical services personnel responded as a precaution.
No student involved received additional medical treatment, according to Holmes. The school day continued normally. A video of the fight is circulating online. Kinston High School administrators are gathering information about the incident to determine disciplinary action, Holmes said.
