Economic Development Region responds to MasterBrand announcement in Kinston
The Economic Development Region says it is working with local and regional partners to support employees affected by recent changes at MasterBrand’s Kinston operations.
In a statement posted to Facebook, the organization said it and its partners are aware of the company’s recent announcement and are already coordinating a response.
“Our team is already working with local and regional partners on a coordinated response,” the statement said. “We are bringing people together to connect those impacted with information, job opportunities, training resources, and support as more details become available.”
The response comes after MasterBrand announced changes affecting its Kinston operations and employees at the facility.
The EDR emphasized that the announcement should not be viewed as a reflection on the local workforce.
“This news is not a reflection of the quality, work ethic, or value of the people who help make and build things here every day,” the organization said.
The statement also pointed to other employers and opportunities in Eastern North Carolina as partners work to assist affected workers.
“We also know this region has opportunity, strong employers, and people who are ready to help,” the statement said. “In moments like this, we do not lose sight of the road ahead. We pull together, we take care of people, and we get to work.”
EDR said it will continue coordinating with partners and connecting affected workers with available resources as more information becomes available.
“The Economic Development Region will continue moving quickly, coordinating with partners, and doing everything within our role to support the people, businesses, and communities affected by this announcement,” the statement said.
