Queen Street Church to celebrate 25th annual Christmas concert

Queen Street United Methodist Church will celebrate its 25th annual “A Queen Street Christmas” concert with three free performances Dec. 11-13.

The concert will feature the 50-voice Queen Street Chancel Choir and a 30-piece orchestra under the direction of Jacob Mewborn. The program will include familiar Christmas carols.

Performances are scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11; 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12; and 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13. Doors will open one hour before each performance.

The church, at 500 N. Queen St. in downtown Kinston, welcomes the public to attend.

Choir member Jane Hanrahan said the concert has brought together local musicians, congregants and visitors from across eastern North Carolina for the past 24 Christmas seasons. The tradition continued with an online presentation in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hanrahan described the annual concert as a gift to the community, bringing people together through music during the Christmas season.
