LCSO: Detention staff has checked the water, and everything is clear at this time

We received several reports this afternoon regarding water discoloration at the Lenoir County Detention Facility.

Our staff immediately responded by testing the water, and the City of Kinston was notified. Detention staff has checked the water, and everything is clear at this time. There is no danger to our staff or inmates.

The City of Kinston will continue to flush the water lines around the detention center as a precaution and to ensure the issue is fully addressed.

We will continue to monitor the situation and work closely with the City of Kinston.
