412 Bistro to open in former Peach House building on Vernon Avenue

412 Bistro to open in former Peach House building on Vernon Avenue

A new casual dining spot is expected to open in Kinston this August, bringing sandwiches, Italian food and familiar desserts to the former Peach House building.

Sam Kearney and Lily Kearney are preparing to open 412 Bistro at 412 Vernon Avenue. Kearney said the new restaurant will combine parts of their current business, Wake & Bake, with a new concept focused on everyday dining.

โ€œItโ€™s going to be a little bit like a sandwich shop with some Italian food,โ€ Kearney said. โ€œWeโ€™re going to bring a lot of our popular desserts from here and take them over there.โ€

The move also means their current location will close. Kearney said there may be a short period of downtime between closing the current business and opening 412 Bistro, but the timeline is still being finalized.

The opening is planned for sometime in August. Kearney said the business could open in early August or later in the month, depending on scheduling.

โ€œWe have a trip we have to take in the middle of August, so itโ€™ll be before that, early August, or the week when we get back,โ€ Kearney said.

Kearney said the opportunity to move into the former Peach House building came up, and they were excited to take it on and expand.

โ€œThe opportunity was kind of given to us,โ€ Kearney said. โ€œSo we were excited to take it on and expand.โ€

412 Bistro is expected to begin with lunch hours, possibly around 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with dinner service being considered later.

โ€œI think weโ€™re going to start out with lunch, maybe 11 to 2 or some kind of shift like that,โ€ Kearney said. โ€œThen we might open up for dinner down the road in a couple months.โ€

The restaurant will not be a formal or upscale dining concept. Kearney described it as casual dining, with approachable food and a comfortable environment.

โ€œItโ€™ll be a good everyday spot to grab something to eat and chill,โ€ Kearney said.

Some of the existing menu items will carry over to the new location, including popular desserts and sandwiches. The business also plans to use display cases similar to those previously used in the Peach House building.

As they prepare for the change, Kearney said they are grateful for the support they have received over the past three years.

โ€œWe appreciate all the business over the past three years,โ€ Kearney said. โ€œWeโ€™re excited, and we hope they follow us on our new journey.โ€
