NWS Morehead City: Scattered severe thunderstorms possible across eastern North Carolina Tuesday

The National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City says scattered severe thunderstorms are possible across eastern North Carolina this afternoon and early evening.

The severe weather threat is mainly expected between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 23. Eastern North Carolina is under a slight risk, Level 2 of 5, for severe thunderstorms.

The main threat will be damaging wind gusts, with the potential for an isolated tornado.

Residents should monitor the forecast throughout the day and have multiple ways to receive weather warnings, including wireless emergency alerts, weather apps, NOAA Weather Radio, local TV and radio, and alerts from family, friends or coworkers.

The National Weather Service advises people to know their risk and be ready to take action if thunderstorms threaten their area.
