It was a pleasure to spend time with the NAACP in Onslow County to discuss my work in Congress and my commitment to excellent constituent services. I will always fight to lower the cost of living, improve access to affordable healthcare, and ensure our communities are safe.
The NAACP has a storied history fighting for civil rights in the United States, and I appreciate its commitment to ensuring racial discrimination has no place in our nation ever again. We are all created equal by God and united by the principles we hold fast to as Americans. Let us never forget the incredible strides we have taken to form a more perfect union and the work ahead to honor the sacrifices made.

Participating in Camp Lejeune Justice Act Rally in Jacksonville
I joined families, veterans, and advocates in Jacksonville for a rally calling for justice for those impacted by the Camp Lejeune water contamination.
For decades, thousands of service members, military families, and civilian employees at Camp Lejeune were unknowingly exposed to contaminated drinking water. These Americans served our country and their families made tremendous sacrifices, and they deserve to have their voices heard.
The Camp Lejeune Justice Act was an important step toward providing accountability and giving those harmed an opportunity to seek justice. But many families are still waiting for the resolution they deserve.
As the Congressman representing Camp Lejeune, I will continue standing with the veterans, service members, and families who have been affected by this contamination. They answered the call to serve our nation, and our government must keep its promise to them.
I appreciate everyone who came together in Jacksonville to keep this issue front and center and to make sure the stories of Camp Lejeune families are never forgotten.
Meeting with Holly Ridge Mayor Pete Parnian
I had the pleasure of meeting with Holly Ridge Mayor Pete Parnian to discuss the community's priorities and needs.
We also discussed the Community Project Funding I secured for Holly Ridge to support important local needs and make an investment in the community.
Local leaders have a firsthand understanding of what their communities need, and conversations like these are important for ensuring Eastern North Carolina has a strong voice in Washington.
I appreciate Mayor Parnian taking the time to meet with me and share his perspective. I look forward to continuing to work together to support Holly Ridge and deliver results for communities across our district.
Visiting Duplin VFW in Warsaw
I had the honor of speaking with members of the Duplin VFW in Warsaw and hearing directly from local veterans about the issues that matter most to them and our community.
Supporting our veterans has been a priority throughout my time in Congress. I’ve worked to strengthen VA health care, improve veterans services, and make sure those who served our country have access to the benefits and resources they earned.
That includes legislation like the Take Care of America’s Veterans Act and my continued work to expand access to Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) for veterans suffering from traumatic brain injuries and PTSD. HBOT can provide another treatment option for veterans who have not found relief through traditional treatments, and I will continue fighting to make innovative care more accessible to those who need it.
VFW posts like this one provide an important place for veterans to come together, support one another, and continue serving their communities long after their time in uniform.
I’m grateful to the members of the Duplin VFW for their service and for the opportunity to hear their concerns. Our veterans answered the call to serve our nation, and I’ll continue fighting to make sure we keep our promise to them.
Team Murphy Attends Historic Unveiling of Jones County Courthouse Trail Panels
Team Murphy was glad to see three new historical panels unveiled at the Jones County Courthouse as part of the Eastern North Carolina Revolutionary War Trail.
These panels help tell the story of our region and preserve the history of the people and communities who played a role in the American Revolution. The three panels in Jones County are part of a larger collection of 12 panels displayed across Kinston, Lenoir, Duplin, Jones, and Craven counties.
It was great to see Jones County officials, Representative Chris Humphrey’s staff, the New Bern Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution Color Guard and members, the Jones County Veterans Services Officer, the Jones County America 250 Committee, and local historical preservation groups come together to celebrate this important addition to our community.
Preserving our history gives future generations the opportunity to understand the sacrifices and contributions that helped shape our nation. I’m proud to see communities across Eastern North Carolina coming together to preserve and share that history.
Team Murphy Attends 17th Annual Montford Point Marines Day Ceremony
Team Murphy attended the 17th Annual Montford Point Marines Day Ceremony to honor the legacy of the African American Marines who answered the call to serve our country despite facing segregation and discrimination.
They were the first African American Marines to enlist in the U.S. Marine Corps and trained at Camp Montford Point in Jacksonville, NC, from August 26, 1942, until the camp was decommissioned on September 9, 1949.
The Montford Point Marines demonstrated extraordinary courage and perseverance as they broke barriers and helped pave the way for a more inclusive Marine Corps. Their service and sacrifice opened doors for generations of Marines who followed.
We are grateful for their service and proud to honor the lasting legacy of the Montford Point Marines and their contributions to our nation.
Team Murphy Attends Abbey Gate Anniversary Memorial
Team Murphy attended a candlelight vigil honoring the 13 brave American service members who lost their lives in the Abbey Gate attack outside Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, Afghanistan, in August 2021.
May God bless and grant peace to the Gold Star families who lost their loved ones and continue to feel the pain. These courageous men and women, who paid the ultimate price, were among America’s finest.
We also remember our own Marine Corps Sergeant Nicole L. Gee, who deployed from Camp Lejeune and rests in Arlington National Cemetery today.
These individuals’ sacrifices will never be forgotten
