Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office conducts active shooter training for school resource officers during spring break
During spring break, School Resource Officers (SROs) with the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office participated in specialized active shooter response training to enhance preparedness and ensure the continued safety of students and staff across Lenoir County Schools.
This training provided SROs with updated tactics and scenario-based exercises designed to simulate real-life critical incidents. Deputies focused on rapid response, threat assessment, and communication.
By utilizing school facilities while students and staff were off campus, SROs were able to train in realistic environments, allowing for more effective preparation in the event of an emergency. The hands-on training also reinforced teamwork and decision-making under high-stress situations.
The Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank Woodington Middle School for allowing deputies to train in a real-world environment, which plays a critical role in enhancing the effectiveness of this training. The Sheriff’s Office also values its strong working relationship with Lenoir County Public Schools, which is essential in maintaining a safe learning environment for all students and staff.
Sheriff Jackie Rogers stated that ongoing training is essential to maintaining a high level of readiness. “The safety of our students and school staff is a top priority. Providing our School Resource Officers with the most up-to-date training ensures they are prepared to respond quickly and effectively to any potential threat.”
The Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to proactive safety measures and will continue to conduct regular training to protect the community.
