Beyond the Page series to spotlight poets, artists and storytellers in Kinston

Neuse Regional Libraries is excited to host Beyond the Page: Creative Voices in the Community, a monthly arts and storytelling series led by Kinston native Celestine Davis.

Ms. Davis is a Senior Teaching Instructor of English at East Carolina University and a Regional Representative for the North Carolina Writers’ Network, where she helps connect and support writers across genres and experience levels. She previously served as President and now President Emeritus of the North Carolina Poetry Society. She is the founder of UN-Art / Unapologetically Not Artworks, an initiative that creates welcoming spaces for creative expression, storytelling, and community dialogue.

This four part series highlights the many ways storytelling, creativity, and artistic expression show up in everyday life. While poetry and writing launch the series on April 11th with Beyond the Page: Poets in Full Color, each session will dive into a different creative form, including visual arts, storytelling, performance, and hands-on making. No prior artistic experience is required, these programs are designed to welcome both practicing creatives and those who simply enjoy learning about the arts.

All programs will take place at the Kinston-Lenoir County Public Library from 1:00–3:00 PM.
