Kinston Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. to Present the 2026 Jabberwock Scholarship Pageant in Partnership with Delta Research Education Foundation
The Kinston Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., in partnership with the Delta Research Education Foundation, proudly announces the 2026 Jabberwock Scholarship Pageant, to be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the Kinston Performing Arts Center.
Under the distinguished theme, “Honoring Our Legacy: A Night of Masked Majesty,” this signature biennial event will present an evening of regal elegance, cultural celebration, and purposeful philanthropy. Ten accomplished high school students from the Kinston/Lenoir County community will compete for the esteemed titles of Mr. and Miss Jabberwock 2026, exemplifying excellence in scholarship, leadership, and community service.
The Jabberwock Scholarship Pageant remains one of the chapter’s most distinguished traditions. Since 1960, the local chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has presented this transformative initiative to cultivate youth leadership while generating critical scholarship funds for deserving students. Over the decades, the program has evolved into a hallmark of achievement and community pride.
Throughout their journey, contestants and their families have partnered with chapter sponsors to raise scholarship funds while engaging in a structured series of enrichment and service initiatives designed to foster academic preparedness, civic responsibility, and personal development. These experiences have included:
• Royal Leadership Engagement Reception for Jabberwock Kings and Queens
• National Girl Child Month Observance and Male Engagement Initiative
• College Readiness Writing Institute and Scholarship Application Workshop Series
• Senior Community Care Outreach Initiative, including the presentation of toiletry care packages to residents of The Kinston Towers and Six Churches
• Community Holiday Engagement through the Kinston Christmas Parade
• Youth Financial Literacy and Economic Empowerment Seminar
• Professional Etiquette and Social Protocol Training Institute
• Community Literacy Advancement through Read Across America Programming at the La Grange and Greene County Public Libraries
These structured initiatives reflect the Sorority’s enduring commitment to educational development, economic empowerment, and public service.
The 2026 Jabberwock Scholarship Pageant will showcase the following distinguished contestants:
Talia Campbell, Torien Davis, Cayla Dunk, Danielle Francis, Trinity Gant, Dy’Sira Lawson, Braxton Loftin-Myers, Kendall Sutton, Andrea Utah, and ZyRehanna Williams.
Tickets for the event are $10.00 and must be purchased in advance. Tickets will not be sold at the door. Community members are encouraged to secure their tickets early to ensure attendance at this highly anticipated evening of scholarship and celebration.
Proceeds from the event will directly support scholarship awards and educational initiatives benefiting students throughout Kinston and Lenoir County through the chapter’s partnership with the Delta Research Education Foundation.
