S&S Metal Works Establishes Endowed Scholarship for LCC Welding Students

The Lenoir Community College Foundation has received a generous donation from S&S Metal Works in Snow Hill to establish an endowed scholarship supporting students enrolled in LCC’s welding programs.

The scholarship holds special significance for the College, as S&S Metal Works Founder Joe Sanchez is a former LCC welding student. Since his time at LCC, Sanchez has built a highly successful business and now seeks to give back to the program that helped launch his journey.

“We are incredibly proud to see the success of our alumni, and it is especially meaningful when they choose to invest in the next generation of students,” said Dr. Rusty Hunt, President of Lenoir Community College. “Mr. Sanchez’s generosity speaks to the life-changing impact of community colleges and the strong foundation our welding programs provide. This endowed scholarship will support students for years to come.”

The endowed scholarship will provide ongoing financial assistance to welding students, helping reduce barriers and open doors to high-demand, high-wage careers.

“We are deeply grateful to S&S Metal Works for their commitment to our students,” said Jeanne Kennedy, Executive Director of Institutional Advancement at LCC. “This gift creates lasting opportunities for future welders to achieve their goals and strengthen our local workforce.”
