Help Wanted: Controller
Salary: $70,000 - $85,000 Annually
Controller
The Controller will be responsible for oversight of all finance, accounting, and reporting activities. The Controller will lead all day-to-day finance operations and supervise a team of staff members including functional responsibility over accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and purchasing. The Controller will ensure that the College has the systems and procedures in place to support effective program implementation and conduct flawless audits. The Controller will work closely with vice presidents and/or deans and their staffs, not only to educate them regarding finance and accounting procedures but also to explore how the finance function can support program operations.
Qualifications
ยท Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, accounting, or related field from an institution accredited by a federally recognized institutional accreditor is required; CPA license or master's degree in business administration, public administration, accounting, or related field from a regionally accredited institution is preferred
ยท Accounting experience is preferred
ยท Community College experience is preferred
ยท Supervisory experience is preferred
ยท Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
ยท Excellent public relations, communications, and problem-solving skills
ยท Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
ยท Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality

ยท Typical office environment
ยท Frequently sitting at a desk or workstation using a telephone, computer, keyboard, and mouse; some standing and walking
ยท Nights and/or weekend hours as assigned
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
The duties of the Controller include, but are not limited to:
ยท Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations
ยท Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures
ยท Coordinate all audit activity
ยท Assist the College's leadership in the annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate
ยท Oversee all financial, project/program, and grants accounting
ยท Ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period
ยท Collate financial reporting materials for government, corporate, and foundation grants
ยท Leverage strengths of the current finance team members, help to clarify roles and responsibilities, and develop and implement training programs in order to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals
ยท Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment
ยท Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Financial Services
