Breaking: Kinston hire former city manager for interim role

The Kinston City Council met in an emergency meeting today and emerged naming former Kinston City Manager Ralph Clark as the new interim. The previous interim left abruptly after an alleged contentious meeting with newly elected Mayor Kareem Moore.

Mayor Pro Tem Felicia Solomon first made a motion to accept former interim Steve Harrell’s resignation and to thank him for his service. The motion passed unanimously.

Solomon then made a motion to appoint Ralph Clark as interim city manager and for the city attorney to work out details of the contract. The city council voted unanimously in favor.

The appointment is effective immediately and will remain in place until the permanent search is concluded.

Clark has over 50 years of experience in municipal government.
