Energy and Water Development Appropriations
I proudly supported Energy and Water Development Appropriations for FY2026 to help unleash American energy dominance, improve our domestic energy reliability, cut wasteful spending, and protect our nation’s security. Importantly, I am grateful to have secured $4,222,000 in federal funding for operation and maintenance on the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway in North Carolina.
Under the Biden Administration, domestic energy production and mining operations were blocked and shut down, increasing our dependence on China and other foreign countries for critical minerals and resources. While America leaves needed metals and fuels in the ground, Beijing controls nearly 60% of the world’s critical mineral production.
Meeting with Podimetrics
I enjoyed meeting with Podimetrics to hear how they provide a virtual care solution combining advanced remote monitoring with personalized support for veterans with complex diabetes. Grateful to hear about its successful partnership with the VA’s Remote Temperature Monitoring Program.
We discussed solutions to provide those at risk of developing a diabetic foot ulcer with access to life-saving innovations. As the representative of over 76,000 veterans, I’m grateful for the hard work of these folks to help those who served our nation!
Anniversary of the Attack on Abbey Gate in Kabul
On Tuesday, August 26th, we honored the memory of U.S. Marine Sergeant Nicole Gee and the 12 other brave U.S. service members who lost their lives four years ago in the heartless terrorist attack at Abbey Gate near Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, Afghanistan.
Sergeant Gee had been a maintenance technician assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 24 of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit. Her unit was based out of Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
My thoughts and prayers are with Sergeant Gee’s family and the Gold Star families who continue to bear the weight of the ultimate sacrifice. These courageous individuals, who gave their lives in service to our nation, represent the very best of America.
