Lenoir County man arrested with stolen moped and narcotics

On July 7, 2025, at approximately 10:00 p.m., officers with the Kinston Police Department’s D-Squad observed a moped that had been previously reported stolen turn into the parking lot of the Circle K located at 2305 North Herritage Street.

Officers approached the driver, identified as Michael Pigford, 52, of Lenoir County. Pigford was taken into custody for possession of a stolen motor vehicle. During a search incident to arrest, officers located cocaine, fentanyl, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

As a result, Pigford was charged with the following offenses:

-Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle

-Possession with Intent to Sell/Deliver Cocaine

-Possession with Intent to Sell/Deliver Schedule VI (Marijuana)

-Trafficking in Opium or Heroin (2 counts)

-Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
