Obituary: David Woodrow Holt Jr

KINSTON: Mr. David Woodrow Holt Jr, age 77, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, July 26th, 2025, at the ECU Inpatient Hospice with his beloved wife and daughter by his side.

Born in Asheboro, North Carolina on April 23, 1948, David was the son of David Woodrow Holt Sr and Ruby Saunders Holt. David was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the United States Army and retired from the Norfolk-Southern Railroad following a career that spanned 32 years. A meticulous person by nature, David’s appearance was always neat, his vehicles were always pristine, and his yard manicured. He was a longtime fan of NASCAR and relished family vacations at the beach which appealed to his love of fishing and the ocean.

David is survived by his devoted wife, Rose Letchworth Holt of the home; cherished daughter, April Denise Jeup of Brownstown, Michigan; adored grandchildren, Alexis Jeup and Caden Jeup, also residing in Brownstown; and his brother, Ronald Holt and wife Libby of Asheboro.

Funeral Services will be held graveside 11 AM Tuesday, July 29th, at the Snow Hill Cemetery with the Reverend Mike Coombs officiating. The family will greet friends and extended relatives immediately following and other times at the Holt residence.

Mr. Holt will lie-in-repose on Monday from 8 AM – 4 PM at Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service of Snow Hill.
