From Technician to President: Olivia Miller Leads Southern Pharmacy Services in Pink Hill
PINK HILL — Olivia Miller’s new role as President of Southern Pharmacy Services’ Pink Hill location marks the latest milestone in a career that began on day one of the company’s founding.
“I started as a technician,” said Miller, “then supervised multiple departments, led projects across southern locations, became Director of Operations—and now President. It’s been a journey.”
Though the title is new, Miller is no stranger to the region. “I didn’t exactly grow up in Pink Hill, but I’ve planted roots here for the last two decades,” she said.
Southern Pharmacy Services was founded in 2003 by Chad and Mary Beth Terry, with Pink Hill as its original home. It later expanded to Kernersville and joined the Guardian Pharmacy network, a partnership Miller says enables local autonomy with national support.
“We operate just as we have for the last 20 years, providing excellent customer service,” Miller said. “But we also have the backing of one of the largest long-term care pharmacy networks in the nation. That allows us to stay responsive and personal while accessing broader resources.”
Unlike retail pharmacies, Southern Pharmacy is not open to the general public. Instead, it provides prescription services to skilled nursing facilities, assisted living centers, and behavioral health communities.
“We don't have foot traffic,” Miller explained. “Our pharmacists work directly with facility staff and physicians to create personalized medication plans for each resident.”
For families making tough decisions about elder care, Miller understands the emotional weight firsthand.
“A few years ago, my own family had to admit my grandparents into a skilled care facility,” she said. “That experience helps me empathize with what our customers are going through. Every prescription we handle belongs to someone’s loved one. That’s something I remind our staff of every day.”
Southern Pharmacy’s Pink Hill team stays deeply connected to the local community, participating in school fundraisers, benefit lunches, and the annual Alzheimer’s Walk. “We don’t want to just be a pharmacy,” said Miller. “We want to be part of the community.”
While her focus is on Pink Hill, Miller noted that Southern Pharmacy Services operates locations across four states—North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland.
Despite the wide footprint, she says her heart remains in Pink Hill.
