Neuse Regional Libraries Awarded Cannon Foundation Grant for the La Grange Public Library: Opening the Door to Accessibility Project

Neuse Regional Libraries (NRL) are excited to announce that The Cannon Foundation has awarded the La Grange Public Library a $50,000 grant for the Opening the Door to Accessibility project.   La Grange Public Library, a cornerstone of the Town of La Grange, is a transformative presence in the lives of the residents it serves. Because of this, the  LGPL occupies a critical space as a community center, offering access to free wi-fi, informational resources, and quality programming.  NRL will enhance and create inclusive spaces to support the La Grange community and residents of Lenoir County with the overall objective of improving literacy for patrons of all ages, including both traditional and non-traditional forms of literacy, in turn strengthening the quality of life in our community.

The La Grange Public Library: Opening the Door to Accessibility project is divided into two categories that culminate in inspiring community connection through a Digital Resource Center to assist patrons with telehealth, workforce development, and individual learning needs, and a Multi-Sensory Environment to present reading and play as experiences that can be valued and enjoyed by neurodiverse children, young adults, and their families and caregivers, and consequently, begin to build a more connected community.

Neuse Regional Libraries are thankful to The Cannon Foundation for this opportunity to re-envision the La Grange Public Library and make it a modern and welcoming space for all community members.
