Lenoir County man sentenced to a minimum of 12 years in prison following jury conviction

On June 25, 2025, a Lenoir County man was sentenced to a minimum of 148 months and a maximum of 198 months in prison after being found guilty by a jury earlier this month.

Christopher Dawson, 50, of Dylan Drive, was convicted on June 6, 2025, of the following charges:

  • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

  • Possession of Methamphetamine (two counts)

  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Following his conviction, Dawson failed to appear in court for sentencing. He was later located in Havelock, North Carolina, by the Craven County Sheriff’s Office and transported to the Lenoir County Jail to face sentencing before a Superior Court Judge.

The Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office extends its appreciation to the Craven County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in apprehending Dawson and ensuring he was held accountable for his actions.
