Charley Jones presented with the NC Governor's Volunteer award

TRENTON - In front of a capacity crowd at this past Monday night's Jones County Commissioners meeting, Mr. Charley Jones was presented with the 2025 NC Governors Volunteer Service Award in recognition of his commitment to Jones County and his service as the Grants Chair of the Jones County Community Foundation and his service as the President of the Jones County Historical Society.

Jones was presented his award by the Jones County Manager, Mr. Kyle Smith (far left) and was joined at the ceremony by his son Matthew (far right) and his wife Taffy.

As the Grants Chair for the Jones County Community Foundation, Jones was responsible for overseeing the process of selecting worthy non-profits whose services benefit those who call Jones County home for grants, financial support, from the Jones County Foundation.
