BBQ Fest on the Neuse makes history with world record
The 44th annual BBQ Fest on the Neuse made history Saturday as Kinston officially set a new Guinness World Record for the Most BBQ Sandwiches Sold in 8 Hours, with a total of 4,775 sandwiches sold.
The announcement came just after 3:30 p.m., to cheers from thousands of attendees, volunteers, and competitive cook teams. The previous record of 2,500 sandwiches was shattered before 1 p.m., when festival organizers announced that the benchmark had already been met—and then far exceeded.
The festival, which began Friday and wraps up Saturday night, drew visitors from across the state, with crowds flooding downtown Kinston to enjoy music, vendors, and most importantly—barbecue
