Help Wanted: Aviation Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) Instructor

Salary: $60,000 - $70,000 Annually

 Aviation Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) Instructor

 The Aviation Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) Instructor will be responsible for delivering training material that will instruct students on metallic structure and composite standards used in manufacturing and typical structural repairs, per technical documentation, within a classroom and laboratory environment. This individual should have knowledge and experience to demonstrate such typical structural fabrication and repairs per local industry specifications.  This position will train cohorts of students for a local military aviation industry partner. The Instructor is responsible for providing one-on-one and whole group instruction for students to successfully complete the course in an engaging environment.

Qualifications

ยท         5 years of relevant experience in aviation maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) is required

ยท         Associate degree in a related field from an institution accredited by a federally recognized institutional accreditor is preferred

ยท         Teaching and/or industry training experience in maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) topics is preferred

ยท         Airframe and/or powerplant certification is preferred

ยท         Experience with advanced composite fabrication and repairs is preferred

ยท         Post-secondary teaching experience in aviation manufacturing is preferred

ยท         Previous military experience is preferred

ยท         Knowledge of aviation maintenance, repair, and overhaul safety protocols is required

ยท         Typical lab environment

ยท         Typical aviation hangar environment consistent with loud noises, exposure to aviation equipment and materials, and other workplace hazards

ยท         Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs

ยท         Initial occasional in-state travel during onboarding training to industry and educational partners will be required

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

The duties of the Aviation Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) Instructor include, but are not limited to:

ยท         Teach assigned courses utilizing the required course outlines, associated class projects, and related instructional materials in aviation manufacturing subjects

ยท         Collaborate with FRC East to deliver training specific to their onboarding needs and industry standards

ยท         Embed soft skills training into everyday hands-on learning in the lab environment 

ยท         Perform administrative class duties including maintaining records of student progress and attendance, evaluating levels of achievement, and assigning grades related to general instruction and related projects 

ยท         Maintain and set-up labs, classrooms, equipment, tooling and instructional materials required for all scheduled instructional activities 

ยท         Assist with the ordering, maintenance, and inventorying of tools, tooling, instructional supplies, and materials 

ยท         Participate in regular professional development activities as required to improve teaching competencies and to stay current in the field of expertise 

ยท         Evening, weekend, and other duties may be assigned as necessary 

ยท         Report to the Director of Advanced Manufacturing and Industrial Systems Technology Program Chair in collaboration with FRC East executive leadership

ยท         Collaborate with external aviation industry partners to deliver relevant programming and quality instruction

ยท         Possess knowledge of aviation maintenance, assembly and/or repair

ยท         Enforce rigorous safety protocols and ensure all training aligns with FAA regulations and industry standards

ยท         Supervise students using tools and equipment, emphasizing proper techniques, process discipline, and adherence to strict safety procedures in shop/flightline settings

Teaching Performance

ยท         Teach a course load appropriate to their field or discipline 

ยท         Plan and organize instruction in ways that maximize student learning 

ยท         Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students 

ยท         Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse students' needs 

ยท         Employ available instructional technology, i.e. the Internet, telecourse, interactive technology, when appropriate 

ยท         Encourage the development of communication skills and higher-order thinking skills through appropriate assignments 

ยท         Contribute to the selection and development of instructional materials in accordance with course objectives

Evaluation of Student Learning

ยท         Establish and follow meaningful learning objectives 

ยท         Develop and explain methods that fairly measure student progress toward course objectives 

ยท         Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently and return student work promptly to promote maximum learning 

ยท         Maintain accurate records of student progress and submit final grade rosters to division administrator each semester according to established deadlines 

ยท         Demonstrate sensitivity to student needs and circumstances
