Kinston officer saves choking infant
On October 28, 2025, around 9:07 p.m., KPD’s D-Squad responded to a terrifying call, a 4-month-old infant choking.
Officer J. Jones arrived within moments and found the mother in the front yard holding her child. Seeing that the infant was conscious but struggling to breathe, Officer Jones quickly performed back slaps to clear the airway. Moments later, the baby began crying, the sound everyone was praying to hear.
EMS transported the child to UNC Lenoir for evaluation, and thanks to Officer Jones’ swift response and training, a tragedy was prevented.
