Obituary: Evelyn Lorena Adams

Evelyn Lorena Adams passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, in Arlington, Virginia, at the age of 92 years.

A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held at Evergreen Memorial Estates in Grifton, NC on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 2pm with a reception to follow at the cemetery.

Ms. Adams was born in Pitt County, NC to Annie Lockamy Adams and William Adams, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by six half-brothers, Horace Price, Robert Price, John Price, Leroy Adams, William Adams, and James Adams, and by six half -sisters, Cathleen Aldana, Madeline Vincent, Katie Carter, Stella Highsmith, Eva Haddock, and Isabelle Daugherty.

Survivors include her daughter, Renee Stancill Bayes (James) of Arlington, Virginia, two grandsons, Michael Bayes (Audra) of Warrenton, VA, Adam Bayes (Haley) of Charlotte, NC and five great-grandchildren, Samuel and Abigail Bayes of Warrenton, VA, and Gemma, Graham, and Grace Bayes of Charlotte, NC.

Ms. Adams is also survived by stepdaughter Vickie Whaley of Kinston, NC, two step-grandchildren, Cristina Randolf (Tyler) of Scotland Neck, NC and Brannon Whaley of Kinston, NC, and step great-granddaughter Raegan Rando of Scotland Neck, NC.

Ms. Adams is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
