Public Notice: Kinston Housing Authority - Opening of Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program Waiting List
NOTICE TO ALL CITIZENS OF LENOIR COUNTY
THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF KINSTON
ANNOUNCES THE OPENING OF ITS SECTION 8 HOUSING CHOICE
VOUCHER PROGRAM WAITING LIST
Beginning Wednesday, March 20, 2024 applications can be picked up at the following KHA offices in Kinston, NC: 116 East Peyton Avenue, 608 North Queen Street, 901 East Bright Street, 800 East Washington Street, 301 East Bright Street, 311 South Davis Street, 2114 Viking Drive, 511 North Queen Street, 214 West Washington Avenue, and 107 East Peyton Avenue. All applications MUST BE MAILED and postmarked no later than Friday, April 5, 2024, the closing date. Applicants are reminded that no applications will be accepted at any Kinston Housing Authority office, but will be accepted by US Post Office mail only. Applications will be selected by way of a lottery system. As such, order receipt has no bearing on whether an application will be selected for the waiting list. The lottery will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at KHA’s Central Office. Applicants need not attend the lottery as they will be notified in writing if they have been placed on the waiting list.
The housing choice voucher program is the federal government’s major program for assisting very low-income families, the elderly, and the disabled to afford decent, safe, and sanitary housing in the private market. Since housing assistance is provided on behalf of the family or individual, participants are able to find their own housing, including single-family homes, townhouses, and apartments.
No person shall, on the grounds of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, familial status, or disability be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be otherwise subjected to discrimination under KHA housing programs.

Todas las solicitudes DEBEN ENVIARSE POR CORREO y matasellarse a más tardar el viernes 5 de abril de 2024, la fecha de cierre.
