Local students win national theater award at 2024 Junior Theater Festival Atlanta

Students representing Kids On Stage (Snow Hill, NC), Carolina Academy of Performing Arts (Apex, NC), and Raleigh Area Children’s Theatre (Raleigh, NC) won national theater awards at the 2024 Junior Theater Festival Atlanta (JTF Atlanta). The monumental weekend dedicated to rewarding and celebrating excellent student-driven musical theater programs happened January 12-14, 2024, at the Cobb Convention Center in Atlanta.  

Kids On Stage received a Freddie G Excellence in Ensemble award. In addition, Alyssa Jones and Lathan Williams were named Junior Theater Festival All-Stars, a select group of outstanding performers. Navaeh Terry and Matthew Swift made it to the call-back to a yet-to-be announced special project promoting musical theater in schools. 

Carolina Academy of Performing received a Freddie G Outstanding Production award. In addition, Payton Snyder and Zach Johnson were named Junior Theater Festival All-Stars, a select group of outstanding performers. Zach Johnson made it to the call-back to a yet-to-be announced special project promoting musical theater in schools. 

Raleigh Area Children’s Theatre’s received a Freddie G Outstanding Production award. In addition, Avery Gard and Kara Troy were named Junior Theater Festival All-Stars, a select group of outstanding performers. Allen Bailey and Donna Shoaf made it to the call-back to a yet-to-be announced special project promoting musical theater in schools.
