In 2020, Brandon kicked off his campaign for Greene County Board of Education. Johnson shared that “I was inspired to give back to the community and serve as an elected official. I wanted to be a positive voice for students, parents, and school officials - helping create a positive vision for student success, ensuring accountability, helping to influence challenging and diverse decisions, having the opportunity to advocate for students, parents, and school officials, and promote school safety.”
He went on to share “Today I serve as a third-generation law enforcement officer, The very first to serve alongside my Father, Ray Johnson - who is a County Commissioner in Greene County.” This is the first time for a father and son to hold elected offices together in Greene County.
Despite being young, Brandon gave it his all - On Tuesday, November 3, 2020, he was elected as the youngest to ever serve as an elected official in Greene County. The most important aspect for Brandon is sharing his testimony with others, especially young people. At the age of seventeen, Brandon unexpectedly lost his mom. During this difficult time, he was a high school student, but never gave up - Brandon kept his faith in Jesus Christ. Despite the unexpected - Brandon graduated high school, attended college, attended numerous hours of rigorous training to become a law enforcement officer, and gives back to his community by serving as the Vice Chairman for the Greene County Board of Education. He is just a 27-year-old young man, who is grateful to serve his community.
Johnson shared “Some of the challenges faced today are bringing people together. As a leader, it is crucial we ALL work together as a team. There is not a single person, a single group, or a single party affiliation that can do everything on their own. We must all work together for the greater good of our community and schools. “
Johnson shared his words of wisdom with our readers as “Go for it, life is too short to worry, and never ever give up.”
