The following restaurant inspections were conducted by the Lenoir County Health Department:

Papa Johns

4001 Suite B, Vernon Avenue, Kinston 

Date: 4/1

Score: 92

Observations: 

No certified food protection manager on duty. 

The lavatory in utensil wash area is blocked. 

Facility did not have records for 10 hr. hold time for pizza sauce. 

One small roach seen in office while doing paper work. 

Cups, etc. used to dispense foods were observed to have handles in product. 

Pizza oven rollers and exterior observed to be very soiled. 

All bathroom fixtures were observed to be visibly soiled. 

Dumpster door was open and missing plug. 

Some floor tiles observed to be cracked and broken. 

Walls around lavatory and in bathroom visibly soiled and slight bad repair.

Observations: 

No certified food protection manager present. 

Meatballs were not adequately reheater before placing on hot hold well. 

Toilet bases where bolted to the floor were observed to slightly soiled. 

Wendy's

2409 N Herritage Street, Kinston

Score: 96.5

Observations: 

Employees shall wear effective hair restraints. 

Metal threshold plate going into walk in freezer needs to be repaired. 

Sides of fryer area equipment and lines running behind them have grease accumulation. 

Dumpster left open. 

Additional cleaning needed around cook area especially walk-in freezer. 

Hwy 55

6018 Hwy 11S, Pink Hill

Observations: 

No certified food protection manager present.

The drain under hand wash lavatory next to beverage station leak's onto floor. 

Additional cleaning of walls needed throughout. 

Dust/grease buildup observed on wall behind ice machine/3 door freezer behind cook area. 

Back room, bathroom walls, ceiling tiles around HVAC vents. 


Piggly Wiggly Deli

2202 Hwy 258 N, Kinston

Score: 95

Observations: 

Raw sausage links stored over pre-cooked sausage patties. 

Green beans in pot stored under raw sausage. 

Equipment throughout kitchen is soiled and visible buildup is present. 

Tile in walk-in hall cracked and pulling away from wall. 

Ceiling throughout kitchen visibly soiled. 

Hwy 55

4130 W Vernon Avenue, Kinston

Observations: 

Cups with handles in sugar and flour. 

Tea area and handles as well as internal bases of refrigeration soiled. 

Floors under and between equipment visibly soiled. 

Raw foods flour buckets and sugar and flour buckets not labeled.
