Position Vacancy Announcement for President of the Lenoir County Chamber of Commerce

The Chamber

The Lenoir County Chamber of Commerce, a 501(c)(6) organization, has been serving Lenoir County since 1911. The Chamber acts as a voice and advocate for the business community regarding economic, community and government issues, and positions Lenoir County as a great place to live, work and play.

Summary of Duties

Within the limits of the Bylaws and policies established or authorized by the Board of Directors, under the direction of the Board Chair, the President is responsible for and has the commensurate authority to accomplish duties to include, but not limited to those set forth below:

Provide the overall leadership and management of Chamber activities, personnel, members, potential members, and Chamber related organizations. These activities include developing and closely monitoring budgets; fund raising; membership growth and retention; Chamber committees; Chamber events, projects and activities; recommending policy and actions to the Board of Directors; providing open communication with the Board directly or through the Board Chair; serves as spokesperson for the Chamber in concert with the Chair.

Qualification, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

Preferred candidates for the position of President must be able to demonstrate competencies necessary to lead a non-profit organization; proven leadership experience and skills; proven management, planning, analytical, reasoning,

problem solving and delegating skills. The candidate must demonstrate professional oral and written communication skills.

Education, Training and Experience

Preferred candidates for the position of President will have a bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, public Administration or a closely related field. Progress toward completion of Institute for Organization Management (IOM) is desirable but not required. Preferred candidates will have leadership experience with a chamber of commerce, trade association, membership or other not-for-profit organization. A combination of education and experience closely matching the criteria above will be considered.
