Help wanted: Lenoir County - GIS coordinator

As a member of the Lenoir County Information Technology Department, you can make a difference! We are seeking a new GIS coordinator, but really, we are also seeking a new start to what GIS means to Lenoir County. A successful candidate would come with an articulated vision of what GIS can do for Lenoir County, and how it can be integrated with other departments outside of the base duties listed here.

Candidates work involves creating and maintaining county-wide GIS layers and associated databases, assisting county departments with a variety of mapping projects, and assigning and maintaining 911 addresses and GIS Databases specific to the 911 and Computer Aided dispatch system with high level of accuracy. Candidates for employment must be comfortable with public contact via in person, telephone and e-mail. Employees in this classification must have considerable knowledge of technical operation and maintenance of hardware and software in the creation of GIS data files. Minimum Requirements:

• College graduate two-year, four-year degree with coursework in Geography or GIS, or substantial work experience in GIS field

• Drafting or specialized mapping courses and experience in property mapping w/GIS databases

• Possess a valid North Carolina Driver’s License

• Pass a criminal background check
