Help wanted: Lenoir County Landfill/Solid Waste - Scale House Operator

Salary range: $26,984 - $41,059

Description of work: This position is responsible for operating scales and providing assistance to customers at the county landfill. Knowledge, skills, and abilities: Knowledge of the principles and practices of scale house operations and in operating scale equipment. Skill in customer service and in oral and written communication. Ability to maintain files and records and daily reports. Skill and accuracy in operating a cash drawer.

Physical demands and work environment: The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, or walking. The work is typically performed in an office and outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee is exposed to noise, smells, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, contagious or infectious deceases, and irritating chemicals.

Minimum training and experience: Graduation from High School. Experience in customer service and scale operations. A valid North Carolina driver's license is required.
