The following inspections were conducted by the Lenoir County Health Department:

Kings Restaurant/Kinston

405 East New Bern Road, Kinston

Date: 9/26

Score: 92.5

Employee prepped ready-to-eat food with bare hands.

Slaw chopper and slicer were visibly dirty.

Some food on steam table were less than 135F.

Many flies in kitchen and dining areas.

Wet wiping cloths laying on prep tables and carts.

Shelving, outside and inside of equipment, fryer guts, floors, walls, ceilings, and carts need additional cleaning.

Pipe at hand wash sink in slaw room leaks on floor.

Some cracked floor tiles need to be repaired/replaced.

Utensils left in hand sink at serve line.

Twist tie found in ready-to-eat meat ball.

Gasket on Nor-lake refrigerator needs to be replaced.

Inside and outside of equipment need additional cleaning.

Water leaking under 3-comp sink.

Men's and women's restrooms need additional cleaning.

Floors and walls need additional cleaning under sinks and behind/around equipment.

Wall above prep sink has peeling paint and damage.

Few foods in the Servware 2-door lift top are not correct temperatures.

Few chemicals in spray bottles not labeled.

Stem type thermometer is not accurate.

Wet wiping cloths laying on shelf.

Dispensing utensils stored in water less than 135F.

Area in corner of kitchen near family dollar freezer in cluttered with utensils, cloths, employee personal items. and other contamination.

Detergent solution used for cleaning utensils is 97F, shall be 110F or above.

Top of knife rack outside of ice machine, equipment legs, shelving, top of dish machine, dry food bins, ice scoop holder, etc. is visibly soiled.

Dumpster door left open.

Receptacles and concrete around dumpsters and grease bins are soiled.

Paint is worn in heavy traffic area in kitchen.

Score: 95.5

Fresh sausage in bacon pan and in fry basket less than 135F.

Some temperatures in reach in cooler in back room and in serv ware up front were above 41F.

Flies in kitchen.

Splash guard between hand sink and prep unit was removed.

Non-commercial refrigerators and stove used.

Paint on wall is peeling above prep area.
