National Technical Honor Society at South Lenoir inducts 38 students

Thirty-eight students at South Lenoir High School were added to the rolls of the school’s National Technical Honor Society during an Oct. 13 induction ceremony.

Thirty-eight top-tier students in the Career and Technical Education (CTE) program at South Lenoir High School are the newest inductees into the National Technical Honor Society. 

The students were inducted for membership based on skill development and academic achievement in their CTE courses. To be inducted, students must be participating in a CTE pathway, program, major or coursework; have an unweighted minimum 3.0 overall GPA and/or a 3.0 CTE GPA; have at least two CTE courses in the same discipline or three CTE courses total; meet standards of behavior; and provide recommendations from one or more CTE faculty or staff.

“We are excited for our students to have the opportunity to be recognized for their hard work and dedication towards preparing themselves for the workforce,” Margo Harper, an ag science teacher and NTHS advisor, said.

Inducted during the Oct. 13 ceremony were Madison Akers, Ashlee Anderson, Trinity Beverly, Austin Bryan, Nathan Carlyle, Jakyla Carr, Blayden Curry, Sydney Dawson, Zarie Garner, Eymonni Gooding, Alexis Heath, Eduardo Hernandez, Noah Harris, Christopher Hero, Gracie Howard, Emily Jacobs, Maddox Jenkins, Hayley Johnson, Emma Kennedy, Brittney Kirkland, Taylor Lane, Tamara Loftin, Taylor Martin, Hailey Perez, Vanessa Quinones, Emma Raynor, Deral Raynor, Reyli Renteria, Penelope Rouse, Makayla Sasnett, Addison Scott, Briley Taylor, Ivy Taylor, Madelyn Tucker, Dakota Tyndall, Charley Whitacre, Laura Yanez and Hayden Zeagler.

South Lenoir NTHS officers are: Ricki Lane, president; Hailey Jones, vice president, Alexander Renteria, treasurer; and Emmanuel Jones, secretary.

 Since 1984, NTHS has been the honor society for CTE, serving high schools, career centers, community and technical colleges and universities. The stated mission of NTHS is to advocate for and empower all students to pursue the technical and academic skills needed to build their careers and a skilled global workforce.
