Senator Perry selected for another Chairmanship

Raleigh, N.C. – Senator Jim Perry, (R- Lenoir) Majority Whip of the NC Senate, has been appointed by Senate Leader Phil Berger to serve on the North Carolina Military Affairs Commission (NC MAC).

Immediately upon his appointment, Senator Perry asked to serve as Chairman of the Legislative Affairs Committee for NC MAC.

“Our military community is the second largest driver of our economy in North Carolina. I will work to help execute the NC MAC strategic plan that will drive continued growth in this sector. I am thankful to be chosen for this role, and I look forward to learning from those who have been serving.”

NC MAC develops recommends actions to protect the existing military infrastructure in North Carolina, maintain a high quality of life for military members and their families and to promote new military missions and economic opportunities for the State and its citizens.

“I want to help expand our support footprint in eastern North Carolina. I am steadfast in my commitment to effectively oppose any legislation that could weaken our standing with regards to possible future Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) decisions.”

The North Carolina Military Affairs Commission (NC MAC) consists of 23 voting members who are appointed by the Governor, the President Pro Tempore of the Senate, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives. NC MAC provides advice, counsel and recommendations, that will continue and increase the role that NC’s military installations, the National Guard and Reserves play in defense strategy and the economic health of the State.
