Kinston Police teams up for the North Carolina Governor's Highway Safety Program this Labor Day

North Carolina Governors Highway Safety Program this Labor Day holiday to get impaired drivers off our roadways. Labor Day is one of the most dangerous weekends for travel behind New Year’s Eve, Christmas and St. Patrick’s Day.

Over the 2019 holiday week, 10 people died and almost 600 were injured as a direct result of impaired driving in NC. Sixty-six additional lives were claimed due to speeding, distracted and sleepy driving.

We know that high-visibility enforcement reduces drunk driving fatalities as much as 20 percent, so we will be out in full force around Kinston.

Please, if you plan to unwind this Labor Day, do so safely. Plan ahead if you plan to drink, call a ride-share, take public transportation or phone a friend if you become impaired. Simply ask someone for help.
