Lenoir County confirms sixth, seventh deaths, Greene County reports 50th case related to COVID-19

The Lenoir County Health Department is reporting the sixth and seventh deaths in the county of residents who had tested positive for COVID-19.

The patients were older than 65 and both had several underlying medical conditions. To protect the family’s privacy, no further information will be released.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the families dealing with these tragedies,” LCHD Director Pamela Brown said.

Fifty cases of COVID-19 have now been confirmed in Greene County. The Greene County Department of Public Health received notification of one lab-confirmed COVID-19 positive case on Friday, May 15th. Yesterday, they received notification of 9 new lab-confirmed COVID-19 positive cases.

Out of the 50 lab-confirmed positive cases, 18 of the individuals have recovered, are doing well, and are out of isolation. The Greene County Department of Public Health is currently monitoring 26 individuals and five other individuals are currently hospitalized. Greene County has had one death.
