The Red Room Lounge announced on Facebook that it will be closing its doors as a live music venue and bar. Their last performance will be with Villanova on February 22nd.

“We have loved every moment and are honored to have been a part of Downtown Kinston.”

On a comment from their Facebook Page, they stated that they made numerous attempts to encourage community support. Management has been changed multiple times and while this last year reflected improvement their sales over the last eight years reflect that there is not enough consistent interest in a live music venue.

From their website, the Red Room states they have hosted some of the biggest names in the music industry.

UPDATE at 3:45 p.m.

“It is with heavy hearts that we close as a live music venue. The community offered great enthusiasm as we upgraded and restructured at the beginning of 2019, however, sales remained consistent with previous years in spite of events planned, marketing and new staff protocols. The building is owned by Hill Realty and we will temporarily close as we revamp and plan to reopen soon as a private event rental space with full bar options. Let me know if you have any other questions at this time.”

- Stephanie Ormond, General Manager of The Red Room
