St. John FWB Church thanks teachers and staff at Rochelle Middle School with lunch

The St. John Free Will Baptist Church, located at 405 E. Blount Street in Kinston, brought lunch for the teachers and staff of Rochelle Middle School on Thursday. The church wanted to show appreciation for the hard work the school has done teaching both in person and virtually during the pandemic.

“Today we are serving the teachers at Rochelle Middle School just expressing our appreciation for their service during this pandemic,” said Pastor William Hudson of St. John FWB Church. “I know with the online learning and actually coming to the school physically has been a challenge, and we just want to make sure we expressed our gratitude and just let them know that we appreciate what they’re doing.”

Pastor Hudson was joined by other members of the church including Minister Koonce, Minister Mathews, Eldress White and Trustee Rosalind McDonald who served the teachers and staff as they came in and presented them with a lunch from Chic-fil-a.

“We just want to serve the community and let the community know we are here and let them know we appreciate them,” said Hudson.

Lenoir County Schools are currently in Plan B which allows for both remote learning and in-person instructions. As the teachers are doing both, Pastor Hudson and the St. John FWB Church thanked each person as they walked through the line collecting their lunch and a thank you card from the church.

“We appreciate all you do,” said Hudson.

The teachers and staff made their way through the line and expressed their gratitude to the church for providing them lunch. Hudson believes in the longevity of showing his appreciation for those who work in the face of a pandemic.  Over 50 teachers and staff were treated to lunch as the pandemic moves into its 8th month since the shutdown in March.
