Bean to bar chocolate available at The Market
Woodberry Chocolates is a small, family-operated company with a love of chocolate. They strive to offer quality bean to bar artisan chocolates and confections handcrafted in Kinston. Their wares are located inside Downstairs at The Market on Herritage Street in Kinston, patrons can sample different types of chocolate made inside the shop.
โEveryone experiences chocolate as a kid and they either love it or hate it. Most people love it. I really started to question where chocolate comes from,โ said Anna Brown a native of Kinston and owner.
Owner Jon and Anna Brown currently import their beans from Ecuador and are exploring other varieties of ethically sourced beans from around the cocoa belt. The high-quality cacao bean is preferred by chocolate makers. The Browns pride themselves on their lack of fillers, additives, or artificial flavors.
โWe are chocolate makers, not chocolatiers,โ said Jon Brown, owner.
Bean-to-bar is a chocolate making process, where the maker controls every step of the from cacao bean to chocolate bar. Chocolatiers source their chocolate from chocolate-makers. The Browns are bean to bar chocolate makers who create artisan handcrafted chocolates.
โAs the weather starts to cool down, we hope to go to the Farmerโs Markets and be out to sell our products and hopefully maybe online. Weโre starting small but we want to get out in the community with our chocolate,โ said Anna Brown.
At this time, Woodberry Chocolates are available at The Market. The Marketโs hours are Tuesday-Thursday from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
โItโs fun to give people chocolate,โ said Anna Brown. โItโs fun to bring joy to peopleโs lives even for a minute.โ
A sampling of the items available for purchase is peanut butter bonbons, coffee bonbons, sea salt caramel in dark chocolate, dark nibby crunch, Martha Washington candies and all of their signature bars.
โAll you need is love and chocolate,โ the Brownโs said.
