Parrott academy shifts administrative positions

In early October, several key administration changes occurred at Arendell Parrott Academy. Robert Kravitz became Head of the Upper School, replacing Brooks Sutton.

Kravitz, who came to APA five years ago from Lawrence Academy, has served as Assistant Athletic Director, varsity baseball coach, and science teacher. The Winterville resident will continue his baseball coaching duties as he serves in this new position.

“I’m looking forward to a new role with new challenges,” Kravitz observed.

Sutton, who last spring was named to fill the Headmaster position when Dr. Bert Bright retires in 2020, will spend the next few months working closely with him before taking a sabbatical in preparation for her new duties.

Moving to Assistant Athletic Director is Kelly Johnson, who taught physical education, coached, and served as Athletic Director at APA previously. Johnson spent 12 years at William Peace University as the girls basketball coach and Athletic Director before retiring to Kinston and resuming a faculty position at Parrott, where he also coaches the varsity girls basketball team.

Headmaster Bert Bright said, “These changes bring talented faculty members with a deep understanding of our school’s mission into key positions that will help advance the Academy.”
