APA receives playoff seeding in soccer, tennis, volleyball Sunday

Arendell Parrott received its seeding for three sports Sunday.

The Patriots picked up the No. 1 seed in girls’ tennis and volleyball, and have byes in the process. In tennis, APA had its second undefeated regular-season in school history at 12-0 and will face the winner of the Gaston Christian-Carmel Christian match at home Friday in the NCISAA 3A quarterfinals. The Patriots are the two-time runner-ups in the state, but defeated seven-time state champion St. David’s twice in the regular season this year.

In volleyball, the Patriots received a double bye and won’t play until the NCISAA 3A quarterfinals Saturday. APA (18-3) is the defending state champions and after losing consecutive five-set matches to Coastal Christian and Cary Christian, the team has reeled off six straight wins — all in straight sets.

In soccer, the Patriots (9-9) travel to Raleigh Tuesday to face St. David’s. APA clinched a share of the EPIC conference title and split the season series with the Warriors, falling 2-1 at home Sept. 24 and winning 1-0 in Raleigh Oct. 10.

The championship game in all three sports will be held Oct. 26. In volleyball, the game is at North Raleigh Christian and the tennis match will be played at N.C. Wesleyan in Rocky Mount. For soccer, the championship game is held at the field of the team with the highest seed.
