Insurance agents available at temporary field office Friday

For those looking to file insurance claims, agents will be easily accessible on Friday.

From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Lowe’s, located at 4489 US-70, Kinston, there will be insurance tents set up for those who need to contact providers. As of this writing, representatives from Allstate, Nationwide and State Farm are scheduled to be on site. Representatives from FEMA will also be in attendance.

State Farm Agent Judy Jones said the insurance tents were set up by N.C. Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey to help those who dealt with hardships through Hurricane Florence.

“People may not be able to reach their agent, so this is a way for them to come out and talk to someone,” Jones said. “We encourage anyone to come out with any questions they have.”

Chris Humphrey of Chris Humphrey Allstate said some companies were able to provide immediate assistance.

“Some wrote checks on the spot,” Humphrey said. “If you go up there and have coverage, you may be able to get a jump start if you qualify. They were there to help people get things going and start the process of putting their lives back together.”
