Man arrested in Boston for May shooting in Kinston

A man accused of attempted murder in a May shooting at Southeast Elementary School has been found and arrested in Boston.

Allen Devon Lewis was arrested following a traffic stop by the Boston Police Department and U.S. Marshal Task Force on Wednesday. Lewis is alleged to have shot Rico Demecko Garner in an after-hours incident near the basketball courts at Southeast Elementary on May 8. Garner was found at 807 Chestnut Street by officers with gunshot wounds to his lower body; he was transported to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, where he later recovered from his injuries.

Warrants for Lewis’ arrest were issued for attempted first degree murder, discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, discharging a firearm on educational property and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Lewis is currently in jail in Boston under no bond and is awaiting extradition back to Kinston.
