George E. Everett

April 23, 1942 – December 31, 2018

George Earl Everett, 76, was called home to his Heavenly reward on Monday, December 31, 2018. George was born April 23, 1942, in Lenoir County to the late Fred R. Everett and Katie Sutton Everett.

George believed in the value of hard work and felt that it would carry one far in life. He planted with the seasons and put his faith in Christ, “for as you sow, so shall you reap.” Farming provided a passion and a living for George, and there was no place he’d rather be than the family farm. He has always been captivated by tractors and farm equipment. The pieces he purchased didn’t have to be new, and he truly treasured his antique tractors. His Farmall M was his pride and joy. In the last several years, George found great pleasure from his work on the excavator. He often beamed with pride when clearing and grading a piece of land on the farm. His lunch breaks from a hard day’s work revealed his softer side, as he couldn’t miss an episode of “The Young And The Restless” or “The Bold And The Beautiful”.

With a heart of gold, George would willingly give his last dollar if he knew it would help someone else. He was wise beyond his years and was always the go-to for advice. He would often say, “Do it like you want, but if I was you I’d do it this way…”. His memory was sharp and he would never forget any details. George was known to be quite the jokester. His sense of humor endeared him to everyone he knew.

The consummate family man, George’s greatest accomplishment was his wife and children. George and Patricia met at Wheat Swamp and instantly fell in love. He made her his wife and together they enjoyed 57 years of loving marriage. The two raised their children, emphasizing the importance of faith and teaching strong principles. George was always there for his kids and when something was wrong, no one could make it right like their daddy. George was a wonderful father and grandfather. His core values and belief in God has set an example for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that will guide them all their lives.

A service to celebrate and remember George’s life will be held Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Wheat Swamp Christian Church. Burial will follow at Westview Cemetery.

George is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patricia Farmer Everett; three children, Debbie Everett Stanley, Lynwood Earl Everett and his companion, Kelley, and Lori Everett and husband, Chris Heath; three grandchildren, Robert Earl Everett and wife, Ashley, Kim Everett and her companion, Michael Deaver, and Drew Gordon; two great-grandchildren, Isaac Earl Everett and Emily Grace Everett; and a special family friend that George thought of as one of his own, April Rouse. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Ronnie Stanley; and seven siblings, Lucy Jones, Bela Stocks, Frederick Everett, Henry Everett, James Everett, Margaret Jerue and Catherine Sugg.

Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rousefh.com. Memorials may be made to the Wheat Swamp Christian Church, 3732 Wheat Swamp Road, La Grange, NC 28551. Arrangements are entrusted to Rouse Funeral Home, La Grange.
