Kinston Police investigating armed robbery at tobacco store

On Friday, January 5th, 2023, at approximately 12:45 p.m., members of the Kinston Police Department responded to Kinston Tobacco and Vape, 719 N. Queen St. Kinston, in reference to an armed robbery.  Upon arrival, officers met with the victims, who advised that an unknown black male entered the business and demanded money. The suspect was armed and fled on foot after receiving cash from the clerk. 

Obituary: William Custis Barnard Jones, Jr.

Mr. William Custis Barnard Jones, Jr., known as Barney, age 94, quietly passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, after a period of declining health. A burial service will be held on Friday, January 5, at 3:00pm at Westview Cemetery, Kinston. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 13, at 11:00am at The Brown Chapel, Cypress Glenn Retirement Community, 100 Hickory St., Greenville.

Obituary: Juan Eric Cantu

Juan Eric Cantu, 77, of Kinston, entered his eternal rest on January 2, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday at 2pm at the Walk of Honor, Herritage St, Kinston. Burial with military honors will follow in Westview Cemetery. Friends and family are invited back to GI Joe’s for a time of sharing memories of Eric. The family will receive friends Saturday from 3-5pm at Edwards Funeral Home and other times at GI Joe’s.

Kinston Police arrest suspect in armed burglary on Hwy 258 N

On Monday, January 1, 2024, members of the Kinston Police Department responded to a residence on the 1500 block of Hwy 258 N. Kinston, N.C., in reference to a reported 1st degree Burglary. The homeowner advised that the suspect entered the residence while the occupants were asleep and stole several items. The homeowner provided surveillance video that showed the suspect, Dustin Snyder, 36, of Kinston, enter the residence with a firearm before stealing firearms and misc. items.
