Jesse Vernon Braswell, 92, of Grifton, passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at ECU Health. A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 23, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Howard Carter Funeral Home. From Cold to Closed: Update on Kinston's 2021 homicide
During the month of July 2023, members of the Kinston Police Department’s Investigations Division and the departments Violent Criminal Action Team were able to obtain vital information in the case. This information led detectives to obtain warrants for Ernest McCotter (31) of Hampton, VA and Deshawn Maye (30) of Kinston for the murder of Jerome Gadson on March 14th, 2021.
