MasterBrand Cabinets will be expanding in Lenoir County and bringing new jobs to Kinston. The company made the announcement at Lenoir Community College’s Aerospace and Advanced Manufacturing Center as part of the NC Global TransPark Economic Region Development. MasterBrands, a subsidiary of Fortune Brands Home & Security, Inc., will invest more than $13.5 million to expand production capacity at its manufacturing center in Kinston. The salary of the new jobs will vary, but the average wage for all the new jobs will exceed the median average for Lenoir County of $39,839.
A few days ago, my wife went to the post office to pick up some Christmas stamps. Much to her surprise and dismay, the postal man said there were no Christmas stamps available this year, to which my wife retorted, “You mean you don’t have any Christmas stamps showing Mary and the baby Jesus! Nothing about the traditional manger scene or the wise men coming from afar to worship the newborn Savior of the world?”

Mayor Dontario Hardy of Kinston, NC, was elected to the National League of Cities (NLC) board of directors by NLC’s membership at the 2021 virtual City Summit. Hardy was elected to a 2-year term and will provide strategic direction and guidance for NLC’s federal advocacy, governance and membership activities. A fire took the life of a Banks Elementary School student on Sunday, November 21, 2021. The mobile home fire located at 1879 Water Chestnut Drive in Kinston was reported by the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office.

Ms. Harriet Herring, formerly of Kinston, was the apple of her father’s eye and she felt the very same about him. A devoted daughter, she saw first-hand her father’s generosity to others. William I. According to the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office, a fire took the life of a juvenile early this morning.
At approximately 1:20 a.m. today (Sunday, Nov. 21), a fire was reported at a mobile home residence at 1879 Water Chestnut Drive in Kinston. The North Lenoir Volunteer Fire Department, La Grange Volunteer Fire Department and Lenoir County EMS responded to the scene.
