The following inspections were conducted by the Lenoir County Health Department:

Little J's Pizza

402 E Washington Street, La Grange

Date: 3/02

Score: 98

Observations:

Observed a spice shaker and oil bottle not labeled.

Observed torn gaskets at the two door reach in used as a prep table that is close to the ware wash room and adjacent to pizza oven.

Non food contact surfaces of equipment shall be cleaned frequently to preclude accumulation of soil residues.

Build up on gaskets.

Observed ac vent in center of the kitchen with heavy dust build up.

Food Lion Deli

301 Washington Street, La Grange

Observations:

Observed inside of the Traulsen 2 door reach in holding lunch meat that has soil residue.

Observed inside of convection oven with heavy char buildup on bottom and on racks.

Light drip at the cold handle of the 2-comp sink across from the convection oven.

Observations:

Observed torn gaskets at both doors on both sides of the reach in cooler on the order prep lines.

Observed a torn gasket at the reach in for the cooler by the drive through/front counter.

Additional cleaning needed on sides of fryers, hoods, shelving, floors, walls, ceilings, walk-in fridge floor, and gaskets.

Observed heavy build-up on the vent covers of the condenser unit in the walk-in cooler.

Piggly Wiggly Deli

2202 Hwy 258 N, Kinston

Observations:

Observed single-serve articles stored under the hand sink as you enter the back kitchen area.

Can opener is not ANSI certified.

Observed gasket of the walk-in freezer torn.

Observed handle to the hotlogix cabinet broken.

Deli display cases beginning to rust, doors to deli cabinet fixed with duck tape.

Cutting board table beginning to accumulate scoring and staining.

Equipment throughout kitchen including racks, stoves, ovens, and hot holding units are soiled and have visible grease buildup.

Heavy char on the inside of the bakers pride oven and on the metal guard between the stove top and the fryer.

Observed leaks at faucets on prep sink and both 3-comp sinks.

Ceiling throughout the kitchen, floor in walk in, floor behind the cooking equipment, AC vents by the hot logic hot holding cabinet, and the hot hold cabinets needs additional cleaning.

Observed two lights out under the hood, lighting intensity under the hood was measured between 23-26 foot candles.

Bojangles

1028 W New Bern Road, Kinston

Observations:

Items were stored improperly in walk in freezer.

Observed employees with facial hair that did not have beard guards on.

Leak under sink at biscuit making area.

Bottom of True 2 door freezer has buildup of crumbs and flour build up in all of biscuit area.

Dumpster uncovered outside.

Flour buildup under equipment, and well as dirt and debris.

Piggly Wiggly Deli

2407 D H Herritage Street, Kinston

Observations:

Observed employees not washing hands when changing tasks.

Build up of encrusted grease on baking sheets and pots.

Sugar in squeeze bottles next to coffee dispensers lacked labels.

Several boxes of chicken and other product on the ground in the walk in.

Food stored under condensation lines in the walk in was dripping condensation.

Gaskets torn on several units. Hot plate pad torn.

Interior and exterior of hot holding units, floors under equipment, sinks, walls, hood system, fryers, and ovens, walk in shelving, rotisserie unit, dish racks, and shelving storage racks throughout need additional cleaning.

Leak at 3-comp sink.

Employee personal belongings being stored on products in dry storage area.
